udi Arie Setiadi has acknowledged the possibility that senior lawmaker and former journalist Meutya Hafid could succeed him as communications and information minister under the administration of president-elect Prabowo Subianto.

"I've heard about that from many sides. I am fine [with it]," Budi Arie said on Tuesday, as quoted by Tempo.co, and that he would be ready to take up a new position in the incoming administration.

Budi Arie, who was appointed to his current position in July 2023 and also leads a group of supporters of outgoing President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo, added that “appointing new ministers is the president-elect's prerogative".

Earlier on Tuesday, Meutya told reporters after she had been sworn in to her fourth term as a member of the House of Representatives that she had not been offered any position in the next administration.

"No, there's no such offer. We're just waiting," she said at the Senayan legislative compound in Jakarta.

On Sept. 27, Meutya visited Prabowo's private residence in Hambalang, Bogor, West Java, as reported by several media outlets, a move that has been viewed as a sign that she was likely to be offered a position in his administration.
