According to train operator KAI Commuter, the incident took place at about 12:15 p.m., when the No. 1674 train was travelling from Citeras station to Rangkasbitung terminus in Lebak regency, Banten. Citeras is the penultimate station in the Rangkasbitung direction.

“The throw took place at Km 76+5 between Citeras and Rangkasbitung stations,” KAI Commuter corporate secretary Joni Martinus said in a written statement.

The Commuter Line train is currently being repaired at Rangkasbitun Station as the attack has caused its front cabin windshield to shatter.

KAI Commuter immediately deployed its workers to look for the perpetrator in the location. Joni said the workers conducted a sweep and gathered information from locals about the perpetrator.

“The workers have yet to find the suspected perpetrator who was believed to escape right after throwing the stone,” Joni said.
