T

he Home Ministry and Gerinda Party have reprimanded Prabumulih Mayor Arlan for removing a school principal without following proper procedure.

The principal, Roni Ardiansyah, has since been reinstated as the principal of state junior high school SMPN 1 Prabumulih in South Sumatra, following public outroar in social media.

Arlan said Gerindra’s South Sumatra provincial executive board (DPD) chairwoman Kartika Sandra Desi had reprimanded him over the case. The chairwoman asked him not to repeat what he had done, he said, and that the party would punish him.

“The chairwoman has called me several times. Gerindra’s South Sumatra DPD chairwoman has reprimanded me,” he said at the Home Ministry on Thursday, as quoted by kompas.com.

“I will also get punishments but that will be done after I get home from here [the ministry].”

Arlan removed the principal of Roni Ardiansyah, after the principal allegedly forbade a car carrying Arlan’s daughter to enter school grounds while it was raining on Sept. 5.
