Q

ueen Maxima of the Netherlands concluded her three-day visit to Indonesia on Thursday with a bilateral meeting with President Prabowo Subianto, in which she advanced missions and programs on financial inclusion after meeting with the country’s top economic officials.

After a packed itinerary that took her to Surakarta and Sragen in Central Java as well as Bekasi in West Java, Maxima came to the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Thursday at noon for a scheduled meeting with Prabowo.

Upon arriving at the palace, which was built as a mansion during the Dutch colonial era in the 18th century, she was welcomed with an Indang dance performance accompanied by traditional Minangkabau music from West Sumatra.

The Dutch royal then held a closed-door talk with the President about financial transformation and health in Indonesia, focusing on reforms based on “justice, equal access and social sustainability”, according to official statements from the Presidential Secretariat.

Among topics discussed during the meeting included the enhanced implementation of Indonesia’s financial services, expanding benefits to informal workers and small businesses as well as strengthening financial literacy among the country’s people.
