hen it’s scorching hot outside, who you gonna call? Well, Uber. The application-based transportation operator is rolling out its annual #UberIceCream event to celebrate US National Ice Cream day, which falls on July 17.
Indonesia is among the 69 Uber-operating countries participating in the event. From 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, Uber users in Jakarta, Bandung, Surabaya and Bali can get Magnum ice creams transported to their doors.

The method is simple. First, users need to turn on their location setting. If there is an Uber Ice Cream vehicle nearby, users just need to place an order. The delivery fee will be Rp 5,000 ( 38 US cents ) for four Magnum Crème Brûlée ice creams.
Aside from making deliveries with Uber cars, there will also be special deliveries using bajaj (auto rickshaws) in Jakarta, andong (horse-drawn carts) in Bandung, becak (pedicabs) in Surabaya and Vespa sidecars in Bali. Some lucky users will also receive merchandise from #UberIceCream and will have their ice cream delivered by well-known Indonesian figures such as Abang None Jakarta and Cak Surabaya, or celebrities Hamish Daud and Raisa.
#UberIceCream has been running since 2012 in the US, while last year’s event in China involved drones to deliver ice creams. (asw)
