science-fiction musical written by late singer David Bowie and Enda Walsh, Lazarus, is set to be performed at the Kings Cross Theatre in London between Oct. 25 and Jan. 22, 2017.
The two-hour long show, which opened at the New York Theater Workshop last year, was inspired by a book titled The Man Who Fell to Earth by Walter Tevis that follows the life of an alien, Thomas Newton, who visits the Earth. Directed by Ivo Van Hove, Lazarus focuses on the continuation of Newton’s journey on Earth as he is unable to escape from alcohol addiction and past love.

Several actors from the original New York production will reportedly reprise their roles in the London run of the musical including Michael C. Hall as Thomas Newton, Michael Esper as Valentine and Sophia Anne Caruso as the Girl.
In the movie version of The Man Who Fell to Earth (1976), Bowie, who passed away on Jan. 10 at the age of 69, acted as Thomas Newton. Known as a highly influential singer, songwriter and actor, Bowie also released a song titled “Lazarus” in his last album, Blackstar. (kes)
