ecently, several tests were conducted to compare the physical endurance of the newly launched Samsung Galaxy Note 7 against the iPhone 6s.
Previously, PhoneBuff had conducted similar tests on the Galaxy 7 and iPhone 6s, which resulted in the Samsung product losing as it was easily broken after bring dropped from a height of 1 meter. So this new tests was probably to see whether the Note 7 would experience the same fate. Do note that Galaxy Note 7 is made with Gorilla Glass 5 that has better resistance than the S7.
In the first test, the phones were dropped on their backs, leaving the iPhone with several scratches, while the Galaxy Note 7 showed signs of more visible scars, but both phones were still functioning. In the second test, the phones were dropped on the bottom side where sound is produced, with the same result of the Galaxy Note 7 being the more damaged, though still working OK as reported by kompas.com.

In the third test, the phones were dropped on their sides, with no significant damage to both. In the fourth test, the phones were slammed on the screen side, meaning a face drop, with the Galaxy Note 7 surviving with scratches on the left and right, however the iPhone 6s’ screen was quite damaged, indicating the Galaxy Note 7 could hold its own.
Lastly, the final test was to determine which phone would survive countless drops until it ultimately breaks and no longer works. The iPhone 6s took a beating five times until its screen was completely written off. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Note 7 demonstrated remarkable resilience as it was still functioning after being dropped 50 times.
This confirms that the Gorilla Glass 5 layer could really protect the Galaxy Note 7, proving it to be more durable and sustainable compared to an iPhone 6s. The video of this tests can be viewed below. (kha/kes)
