hen Google announced its new lineup of phones and gadgets in October, one of the most interesting products was arguably its new virtual reality (VR) headset Daydream View, which is said to be replacing its predecessor, Cardboard, boasting to be “different” from any other existing VR headset in the market.
As reported by dailysocial.id, the headset mostly uses fabric on the exterior and weighs 30 percent less than its rivals. Daydream View is reportedly also equipped with a capacitive touch button and an NFC chip to simplify the pairing process.

But what really sets this product apart from its competitors is its wireless motion controller that enables users to “interact” in the virtual world through button or movements. The separate controller allows users to navigate the menu, play games and even walk in the Google Street View. The device’s onboard sensory is also capable of tracking users' movements and can predict their hand position. When on standby, the controller can be put back in the headset.
Daydream View is said to be designed not only for specific smartphones, but your device will need certain minimum requirements to keep up, including a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chip, 4GB RAM, Android 7.0 Nougat and AMOLED screen. To start operating it, you just need to put the compatible smartphone into the space behind this headset's front flap.

Among apps confirmed to support Daydream View are CNN VR, the Guardian VR, Fantastic Beasts, Hulu VR and YouTube VR. Meanwhile, among Daydream-compatible games are Danger Goat, Wonderglade, Gunjack 2: End of Shift, and Need for Speed: No Limits VR. Users can also enjoy using existing Google applications that have been remade into a VR version, such as Google Play, Street View, Play Movies and Google Photos VR.
Available in snow, slate and crimson colors, Daydream View was released into the market on Nov. 10 with a starting price of US$79. It is currently only officially marketed in the US, Canada, England, Germany and Australia. (mas/kes)
