n an era where people store valuable information on their smartphones, losing the phone or having it be accessed by strangers is highly unwanted. Third Eye
Third Eye, developed by Mirage Stacks, will automatically use the phone’s front camera to take a picture after several failed unlocking attempts. Users can check out the picture in the application’s notification tab. A pop-up notification will automatically show up, noting the time of the most recent unlocking attempt if the phone has been successfully unlocked. User settings allow the option to remove all data from the smartphone when too many unlocking attempts have been made. Available for Android.
CrookCatcher
CrookCatcher works similarly to Third Eye, but with an additional email notification feature. After several failed unlocking attempts, the application developed by Jakob S. Harteg will send the intruder’s photo, as well as the location where the photo was taken, to the phone's registered email. Available for Android.

Prey Anti Theft
Prey Anti Theft, developed by Prey. Inc, enables users to register their smartphone or electronic devices and track its location by logging on to the application’s website (preyproject.com). Through the app's website, users will be able to track devices, control the device to take photos or screenshots and erase any saved passwords. Available for Android and iOS.
Lockwatch – Thief Catcher
In its free trial version, Lockwatch works very similarly to Third Eye and CrookCatcher. Through its premium feature, the application by developer BlokeTech can detect sim card changes, send an email when the device is turned on, take multiple photos, record sound clips, turn on data connection and send an SMS to a selected number. Available for Android. (mas/asw)
