fter exploring Menteng and Jl. Gunawarman, The Jakarta Post travels a bit further to find places for iftar (breaking-of-the-fast) around Jl. Panglima Polim and Jl. Dharmawangsa. 

Located in South Jakarta, the two streets are known for their plethora of food establishments. These are also the places for those who are looking for Indonesian delicacies and healthy food.

Below are the locations that you should consider visiting for iftar:

1953 Restaurant Indonesien 

Located on Jl. Panglima Polim, 1953 Restaurant Indonesien aims to promote the values of Indonesian cuisine. During this Ramadhan, the restaurant offers a special package from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. that consists of main course, drink and dessert with a complimentary takjil (light snack). The offer is available until June 21 and it is advised to make a reservation in advance.

The restaurant has a 100-seat capacity with smoking and non-smoking areas, an outdoor seating area, as well as multi-purpose private function rooms.

Plataran Dharmawangsa

The award-winning Plataran Dharmawangsa provides authentic Indonesian cuisine combined with the warm atmosphere of Javanese décor. The restaurant provides special dishes during the holy month, which include Al Hambra (goat curry served with canai flatbread), kebuli (spiced rice) with chicken and paella with chicken.

There are also five selected traditional sweets at its iftar corner. As the promotion is only available during Ramadhan, it is advised to book your spot in advance.

Burgreens

Those who seek a healthy option for iftar should consider a visit to Burgreens. Situated on Jl. Darmawangsa, the establishment is known for its veggie burgers and also offers special dishes for this holy month, including kungpao tofu, Manadonese mushtofu, vegan ramen and cocorange bliss. It also provides Idul Fitri gift baskets comprising healthy snacks and organic coffee beans.

If you want to book a spot, it is advised to do so hours prior to your iftar event or starting from 4 p.m. The restaurant also allows you to book the entire place for a private event.

Kedai Makan Lumpang Emas

The restaurant has three different packages for iftar, namely Pake Songket, Pake Batik and Paket Tenun. All of the packages have its signature rice dish, dessert and beverages with complementary takjil.
