anadian singer Justin Bieber has reportedly gained 100 million followers on Twitter. At the same time, he was also named second most followed account on Twitter worldwide.

Twitter celebrates the moment by releasing a special emoji that can be activated by using hashtag #100MBeliebers.

The singer who just launched his new song “Friends” in August has been quite active on Twitter. Prior to releasing his song “Cold Water” last year, he reportedly sent parts of the song’s lyrics via Direct Message to his fans who used the hashtag #ColdWater2Days. He also often used Twitter to show his support toward other musicians.

According to Twitter data, Bieber had been mentioned on the platform for more than two billion times and the word “Belieber”, or the nickname for his fans, had been tweeted for more than eight million times. The singer's most retweeted posts were also mostly about his fans; one of them is when he wrote that his Beliebers had changed his life, which was posted in 2014 and garnered more than 600,000 retweets.

As for the world's most followed Twitter user, singer Katy Perry is still on top with 103 million followers. After Bieber, following behind her are Taylor Swift, Rihanna and Lady Gaga. (kes)
