P

resident Jokowi failed to score in a basketball game involving Dream Basketball League (DBL) players in a friendly game at the Bogor Palace court, on Saturday morning, as reported by Kompas.com.

Jokowi was in the red team along with Youth and Sports Minister Imam Nahrawi and three DBL players. The opponents, the white team, consisted of Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung and four DBL players.

The President and Imam had several opportunities to score, however they missed. The two points scored for the team were obtained by the DBL players in the red team.

Meanwhile, the opponents played more effectively and got 18 points, which included a shot by Pramono.

After the five-minute first game, Jokowi decided to quit.

“I tried to shoot, but didn’t score,” he said.

Although they did not continue playing, Jokowi, Pramono and Imam watched the second-round game from the sidelines. The President admitted that it was hard playing against the DBL players.

“The last time I held a basketball in my hands was 37 years ago and suddenly I’m asked to play,” Jokowi said.

“We should have gone through a warm-up and practice so the feel of holding a ball could come back. To put us right onto the court and play against the DBL team who play every day is imbalanced. It’s not fair,” he added jokingly. (asw)
