Daycare can be a place for your children to grow and learn.
aycare is more than just a place for children to spend their day while their parents are away. It is a place where they can learn to be independent and socialize with friends from different age groups. The following are daycare centers for parents who work in Central or South Jakarta.
Founded in 2015, Happy Tree House Daycare welcomes children of ages ranging from 2.5 months to 5 years old. They also have an after-school class for kids above 5 years old who come to the daycare at noon. The daycare shares its building with a boarding house, with the former occupying the ground floor and the latter the upper floor. But it is still safe for children as the door is always guarded and locked. Operating from 7 a.m. to 6.15 p.m., it also has indoor and outdoor playgrounds.
Happy Tree House's program is based on milestones laid down by the education ministry with activities based on the children’s age and ability. Aside from swimming and field trips once every two months, it also provides baby massages and nail-trimming. The ratio between caregivers and children is 1:3, supervised by a “shadow caregiver”. Parents will receive reports daily and every three months.
Happy Tree House collaborates with Setiabudi health clinics for vaccines and other government childcare programs. It also provides pediatrician visits once every three months and a psychologist visit once a year. All of the staff also receive medical check-ups every three months. Prices start from Rp 4 million (US$ 270.12) monthly for babies and toddlers, with an enrolment fee of Rp 2.5 million. Flexible schedule options and discounts are available.

Little Elephant, a daycare center located in a house within a residential area in South Jakarta, welcomes children of ages ranging from 2 months to 4.5 years. Operating from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., its interior is painted in soft colors as the owners believe it helps children to be more focused and relaxed.
The daycare’s owner has a formal Montessori background, hence she applies this method in the program. Developed by Maria Montessori, it highlights children’s independence, freedom and development. Children are divided into two classes based on their age; baby and toddler, with the caregiver ratio at 1:3 (baby) and 1:5 (toddler). The program is based on monthly themes with weekly sub-themes. Other activities at the daycare include swimming, field trips, science and art experiments and training for children’s motor skills. On Fridays, the toddlers visit the nearest park to do some sports and interact with nature. It also provides detailed daily and weekly reports for parents.
In collaboration with Setiabudi health clinics, the daycare staff will inform parents about vaccines and vitamin A. The children have their own check-ups with a pediatrician every four months, a dentist every six months and a psychologist every six months. Prices start from Rp 4.25 million (baby) and Rp 4.3 million (toddler) per month. Daily and weekly programs are also available.
