aster Sunday, celebrated on April 21 this year, is the day of celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ, one of the most important days in the Christian calendar.

Those who celebrate Easter spend time at church to pray and often feast on special dishes with their families. Children also look forward to the traditions that mark the holiday, such as Easter egg hunting, eating chocolate eggs and bunny racing.

Easter eggs are associated with pagan festivals celebrating spring, according to History.com, but they are also an ancient symbol of new life.

History.com explains that eating eggs was forbidden in the weeks leading up to Easter, so the eggs would be painted and decorated as a symbol that the holy week has ended. The eggs are eventually eaten on Easter as part of the celebration.

Special Easter-themed Sunday brunches can be enjoyed at the Jakarta hotel restaurants listed below.

Fairmont Jakarta

Guests looking for Easter feast are given three options at Fairmont. Spectrum, known for its lavish buffet spread, will present eight live cooking stations featuring fresh seafood, a roast carving station and a dessert station that includes classic Easter treats.

Another option is an Italian Easter picnic at Sapori Deli, where classic Italian dishes such as margarita pizza, roasted lamb, chicken picata and tiramisu will be available at the buffet. Meanwhile, children can find a macaroni and cheese, sliders and milk shake corner at the kids’ buffet. An Easter bunny will greet children at both Spectrum and Sapori Deli, and there will be some typical Easter activities.
