wiss-based luxury watchmaker Breitling will launch a limited edition Emergency watch inspired by the Indonesian flag, in conjunction with the 20th anniversary of luxury timepiece retailer The Time Place.

Emergency is the first watch with a built-in personal located beacon (PLB) and dual-frequency signals (121.5 MHz and 406 MHz) to aid in search and rescue in any number of emergencies.

“Technically is not a watch. I call this a life-saving device,” said Breitling Asia president Alvin Soon.

The first Emergency watch came in orange. However, the limited edition watch will come with a black titanium case with red accents and three color straps, namely red, white and black.

“It’s really inspired by the Indonesian flag,” said Soon, adding that it is really one watch with three different looks.

Breitling will only offer 20 limited edition Emergency watches, which will be sold exclusively via The Time Place, and one for charity auction.

Soon said the company had decided to make a very special piece for the auction, explaining that the watch’s caseback would feature a #squadonamission engraving, the company’s global campaign, instead of the usual serial number.

The auction winner will be able to get the limited edition watch and a Lumas photograph signed by one of the Breitling squad members.

Fifty percent of the proceeds will be donated to the Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project (CTAOP), an organization that focuses on fighting Aids. As for the rest of the proceeds, the winning bidder can nominate the charity organization of their choice.

The launch date has yet to be announced. (kes)
