Titled Perkasa!, the trailer is available on YouTube.

Proceeds from the trailer will be donated to the non-profit Friends of Indonesian Veterans Foundation (YSVI). The public can participate by watching and sharing the video as much as they can.

“We created the initiative to raise public awareness for veterans,” project director of Balpil animation Holip Soekawan told kompas.com.

The trailer explains that Indonesia has had 910,109 veterans since its independence in 1945. It is estimated that almost 100,000 of them are still alive, with ages ranging from 70 to 100.

Head of YSVI Kriswiyanto Muliawan said, “What they need is our care for their contribution to this country’s independence.”

The Perkasa! trailer narrates the story of four students, namely Agus, Binsar, Ling Ling and Made, who can turn into superheroes after their meetings with Balpil, an artificially intelligent robot from the year of 2088. Along with becoming a friend to the students, Balpil guides them to prevent World War III from happening.

According to its Instagram account, the first edition of the Balpil comic (also known as Balpil and the Bhinnekaz Warriors) was released in 2019 on online reading app Webtoon. Later on, it became available on online reading app CIAYO Comics.

Balpil the animated series is a collaborative project between Balpil Nusantara Indonesia, Imagine and Nation Pictures. (wir/wng)
