When Miles went to the bathroom, an unknown man suddenly confronted him and punched him in the face. They were told to go outside the bathroom and Miles screamed that he was going to press charges. He did not appear to be seriously injured in the incident.

As TMZ reported, The man accused the Whiplash star of owing him US$60,000. The man was complaining that he had not been paid for having performed at Miles' wedding in Maui in 2019.

Not long after that incident, Sperry released a statement on her Instagram story saying that the accusation reported by TMZ was false.

"The story reported about Miles being punched in the face by @TMZ over 'money' is completely false," Sperry wrote, according to NBC. "Miles was jumped by two men we have never met after they trapped him in a bathroom."

The Maui Police are currently investigating the assault.
