An avian influenza inspection was held by North Gandaria  subdistrict, in Jakarta on March 30. The inspection was aimed at detecting and controlling avian influenza outbreaks that have been surging in recent weeks.

The Jakarta city administration is on alert about the possible spread of the avian flu virus, following the deaths of about 20 infected chickens in Cilandak, South Jakarta, last week. No humans are reported to have been infected by the bird flu.
