The second Tour de Flores has attracted cyclists and tourists alike to visit the East Nusa Tenggara island. The first stage kicked off on July 14, 2017 from Larantuka, East Flores regency, with a traditional ceremony.

Cyclists were welcomed with a Riik Kozu and Sanggu Alu dance performance upon reaching the fourth stage in East Manggarai regency.

For the fifth stage, they were welcomed by 1,500 dancers performing the Ndundu Ndake traditional dance, which originated from Manggarai. They were also entertained by the fight like Caci dance performed by dancers from Manggarai regency.

The last stage from Labuan Bajo – a famous tourist destination for both domestic and overseas travelers – featured the million Flores coffee cups event, which set the national record for the highest number of simultaneously drunk cups of coffee. The event was held to help increase the ever-growing popularity of Flores coffee.

Manggarai Regent, Deno Kamelu, said the regency had given serious considerations for the preparations of the cycling competition, which was hoped would boost tourism in the area. [yan]
