Thousands of people lined up from early in the morning of June 21, 2018, at the Yogyakarta governor’s office. It was the first day after a long Idul Fitri holiday – as decided by the government.
People from four regencies and a municipality in Yogyakarta province flocked to the office in the Malioboro area – which is a famous tourist destination in the city – to attend the open house held by Yogyakarta Governor Sultan Hamengku Buwono X and Deputy Governor Pakualam X.
The people were enthusiastic to shake hands with their leaders, whom they still respected as heirs to the Mataram kingdom. [yan]
