JAKARTA: Actress Kinaryosih said she was concerned about the newly enacted pornography law, which could outlaw people wearing dresses deemed "pornographic".
"I do not think that we could regulate (the way people dress). I do agree that we should not wear vulgar clothes. But I disagree if the law enforcer acts too extremely when imposing the law," the 29-year-old artist said, as quoted by detiknews.com.
She argued that most important was to wear what is appropriate to the situation.
"It is of course inappropriate to wear jeans on the beach. It is better to wear a bikini," said the actress, who won the Citra Award for Best Supporting Actress for Mendadak Dangdut (Suddenly Dangdut, 2006).
Since 2006, she has starred in six films, the latest of which was Fiksi (Fiction), which was released in June.
The pornography law was passed last week despite protests from artists and cultural activists who believe the law contains dubious passages that could harm freedom of expression and national unity. -- JP
