NDONESIA: Vietnamese National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong will arrive in Jakarta on Sunday to boost bilateral ties and relations between the two countries' parliaments, the Vietnamese Embassy in Jakarta said.
During his four-day trip, Trong will pay a courtesy call on President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono on Monday and meet House of Representatives Speaker Marzuki Alie, People's Consultative Assembly Speaker Taufik Kiemas and several other high ranking officials.
"On Monday, our National Assembly chairman and his Indonesian counterpart will sign a cooperation agreement between the two parliaments," Vietnamese Embassy's press secretary Nguyen Mau Long told The Jakarta Post on Friday.
Trong will also address the Vietnamese-Indonesian Economic and Business Forum on Monday.
Vietnam, the current head of ASEAN, wants to deepen and strengthen economic relations with Southeast Asia's largest economy.
That's why, the embassy said, Trung is bringing six ministers, 60 business leaders and scores of officials along with him to Jakarta.
