ANDUNG: National vaccine producer PT Bio Farma has agreed to help the Pasteur Institute of Iran in developing vaccines and obtaining a prequalification from the World Health Organization (WHO).
The cooperation was signed Monday in Bandung at the Islamic Development Bank’s Self-Reliance in Vaccine Program (IDB-SRVP).
Bio Farma has WHO prequalification, which is imposed to determine the acceptability of vaccines from different sources for supply to UNICEF and other UN agencies.
“The cooperation is the follow-up from the IDB meeting over self-reliance in vaccine program,” Bio Farma director Iskandar said.
Keivan Sokhraie from the Pasteur Institute hailed Bio Farma’s efforts in earning prequalification as a step forward by Indonesia among other Islamic countries.
IDB participants from 12 countries were also given a tour of Bio Frama’s production facilities. — JP
