ALU: A new hydropower plant in Sulewana, Poso, Central Sulawesi, is scheduled to start operations next week.
The manager of state-owned power company PT PLN’s Palu office, Suroso, said on Wednesday that the 195-megawatt plant would go online as of Sept. 24, 2012, to supply power to the regency and to overcome power shortages in the province.
Central Sulawesi Governor Longki Djanggola said the hydropower plant, worth Rp 3 trillion, would supply power to Poso and Tentena in the regency and help prevent power shortages in the province.
“The hydropower plant is expected to be able to supply 65 MW to cope with power shortages in the province,” he said.
