he number of Indonesian tourists visiting Japan rose by 31.7 percent in February this year compared to the same month last year, leading the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) to open an office in Jakarta.
"The number of visitors from Indonesia is pretty big and keeps rising. This is the reason why the JNTO has opened its office in Jakarta," JNTO head Yoshikazu Matsuyama said in Jakarta on Thursday as quoted by kontan.co.id.
He said 6,500 Indonesians went to the Sakura country in February 2014 alone.
This figure has positioned Indonesia in fourth place in terms of the largest tourist contributors to Japan after Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines.
JNTO data also showed 136,797 Indonesian tourists visited Japan throughout last year, up by 34.8 percent compared to the previous year, he said.
JNTO office is located in the Summitmas Building on Jl. Jenderal Sudirman in South Jakarta. (nfo)
