he Indonesian Anti-Dumping Committee (KADI) has initiated a sunset review on imported polyester staple fiber from India, China and Taiwan.
A sunset review is an assessment of an unfair trade practice carried out at the end of an anti-dumping duty charge period, which usually lasts five years. This can lead to the imposition of new punitive tariffs.
KADI chief Ernawati said the probe followed a request from the domestic industry represented by the Indonesian Synthetic Fiber Producers' Association (Apsyfi).
After assessing the request, KADI had found preliminary evidence that polyester staple fiber from the three countries, which accounted for 49 percent of overall imports, had been dumped into the domestic market, she added.
'This will again be detrimental to the domestic industry, which produces a similar item, if the anti-dumping duty is not extended,' Ernawati said in a statement. (***)
