ast Food Indonesia (FAST), Indonesia's Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) franchisee, is set to raise its food and beverage prices due to a depreciation of the rupiah against the dollar which has affected the cost of imported ingredients, including for its secret recipe.
The hike will be between three to five percent, FAST director JD Juwono said after an annual shareholders' meeting on Monday.
He explained that the country's slow economy had driven the increased prices of imported machines and ingredients, especially ingredients in KFC's secret flavoring recipe.
He declined to disclose when the price hike would begin.
"We are still holding it [stable] while we are observing the market conditions," Juwono said, adding that FAST paid careful attention to people's weak purchasing power. (agn)(++++)
