Tex Saverio'€™s: Edgy collaboration

Wearing Tex Saverio'€™s clothes is no longer a dream for many fashion lovers as the couturier just launchedhis latest ready-to-wear collection without losing his design DNA.

His new collection '€” available in collaboration with Singapore'€™s online fashion retailer Love, Bonito '€” comes at a much more affordable prices '€” less than Rp 2 million (US$150.25)

'€œOur brands have a very contradictory style; I usually make fierce, bold designs, while their styles are more feminine, but we worked together to find something in between,'€ Tex told journalists before his recent showcase at Plaza Indonesia shopping mall in Jakarta

'€œThere is always a compromise by each party in every partnership. Love, Bonito is aiming for a more affordable market, and it was a challenge for me as I learned about how to translate my ideas to get into that market, too.'€

Tex showcased 15 looks that were divided into two categories: the first one was clothes with monochrome and fierce designs, and the other category was a set of more colorful clothes.

The collection previously featured at the Singapore Fashion Week in May.

Taking inspiration from the atmosphere of sunset pictures, the clothes mostly feature sharp branch motifs printed on modern and minimalist designs.

A structured romper, one-button sleeveless outerwear that was mixed with white culottes, black-and-white shift dress, peplum pants and cropped top were highlights of his monochrome design parade.

The clothes are ideal for active young women who look for edgy touches in ready-to-wear pieces.

Moving on to the other category, Tex'€™s decision to combine pink, red, grey and blue toned up the predominantly white dresses, giving a touch of femininity to Bonito'€™s signature style.

'€œWe want to get into all sectors in fashion, and this collaboration is part of that big strategy,'€ Tex said.

In addition to Tex'€™s creations for Love, Bonito, the Singaporean brand, led by Rachel Lim and Viola Tan, also showcased its latest collection.

Tan said they decided to work together with Tex as a strategy to help them break into the Indonesian fashion scene.

'€œIndonesia is very fashion forward, and Tex is known around the world, especially in Singapore. This collaboration is a strategic move as we want to enter the Indonesian market, and Tex wants to enter the Singaporean market, too,'€ she said.

Lim said they had admired Tex'€™s designs since they saw his collection at the Paris Fashion Week.

She added that his fashion aesthetic approach and the choice of materials for the costume worn by Jennifer Lawrence in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire were some of the reasons that made them fall in love with his creations.

In the show, Lim and Tan presented a set of casual and feminine ready-to-wear clothes dominated by pastel colors in various outfits, such as rompers, separates and mini dresses.

Lim said that in addition to the online store, the whole collection was also available in Plaza Indonesia'€™s pop-up store until July.

'€œWe'€™re hoping do some more pop-up stores in other shopping malls in Jakarta and other cities, probably Surabaya [East Java],'€ she said.
