AKARTA: City administration plans to develop two Lenggang Jakarta food court and souvenir centers in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, and Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta, this year.

Jakarta Cooperatives, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Agency head Irwandi said that Lenggang Jakarta in Kemayoran could be built by the end of this month.

'€œWe are in the process of obtaining a building permit. Hopefully we can kick off its development at the end of the month,'€ Irwandi said Friday as quoted by beritajakarta.com.

The Kemayoran Lenggang Jakarta will accommodate 488 street vendors, 238 of which are food vendors.

'€œIt is a very strategic location. I hope Lenggang Jakarta Kemayoran will be finished before the upcoming Jakarta Folk Fair to commemorate Jakarta'€™s anniversary in June.

Another Lenggang Jakarta is also planned to be built in Cipulir subdistrict adjacent to a child-friendly integrated public space (RPTRA) this year.

The two will be built upon a 3,000-square-meter plot of land that is still in the process of being acquired by the Parks and Cemetery Agency.

'€œIt'€™s a joint project between the two agencies. The land acquisition will be handled by the Parks and Cemetery Agency,'€ said head of South Jakarta Urban Development Planning office Hidayat Budiawan.
