ndonesian mixed doubles hopefuls Tontowi Ahmad and Liliyana Natsir say they don’t want to get comfortable with their semifinal win.
"We still have to prepare for the final round,” Liliyana was quoted as saying by Antara news agency on Tuesday.
The 2014 All England champions defeated top seeds Zhang Nan/Zhao Yunlei of China 21-16, 21-15 in the semifinal. The pair reached fourth place at the 2012 London Olympics. Liliyana’s best result at the quadrennial event was snatching a silver medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics with then partner Nova Widianto.
Echoing his partner, Tontowi asserted that their focus would be preparing to win the gold medal. "We can’t be big headed as the final battle might be tougher,” said Tontowi.
The world number three pair will take on Malaysian duo Chan Peng Soon/Coh Liu Ling in the final stage on Wednesday. The Malaysians earned their final slot after beating Chinese Xu Chen/Ma Jin 21-12, 21-19.
With the final ticket, Indonesia ensures to bring home a medal in the Rio Olympics after it returned home empty-handed in the 2012 London Olympics. (dmr)
