The Pontianak Police made a teenager sit next to her alleged attacker in reenactments of the case on Thursday.

Pontianak Police deputy chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Veris Septiansyah said reenactments of two different versions had been held to compare the teenager’s side of the case with the suspect’s.

During the reenactment, the suspect, a state university lecturer identified only as DP, tripped several times because of poor eyesight. Sometimes his legal team also had to support him when he walked. The police made the teenager sit beside him in the reenactments.

The teenager, a vocational high school student who was doing an internship at the lecturer’s university, was accompanied by the NGO Nanda Dian Nusantara Foundation (YNDN) director to the police station to file a report on the alleged incident in May.

The director said the pretext of the harassment was hypnotherapy for relaxation.

The woman wrote a multipage letter to President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo to tell her side of the story. Images of the letter went viral on social media. (evi)
