J

akarta Police investigators interrogated artist-turned-activist Ratna Sarumpaet late Thursday in relation to a treason case that implicated activist Sri Bintang Pamungkas.

Sri Bintang was named a suspect in an alleged plot to overthrow President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo from power. The police charged him with treason based on two grounds.

The first was a speech he gave at an event held under Kalijodo flyover in North Jakarta in August, and the second was when he attended a meeting with other activists at Bung Karno University in Central Jakarta on Nov. 20.

The police were investigating the content of the speech and were questioning witnesses to find out what was discussed during the meeting at the university.

“The witness [Ratna] knows what the meeting’s about, [she] was there and directly listened [to the meeting’s discussions],” Jakarta Police spokesperson Sr. Comr. Raden Prabowo Argo Wiyono said Thursday as quoted by kompas.com.

Ratna herself was also named a treason suspect against President Jokowi and was arrested by the police along with 10 others, including Sri Bintang, on the morning of Dec. 2. Ratna was later released but Sri Bintang was still being detained.
