The Riau Islands Police have said the body of a Singaporean found floating in Karimun waters is that of a Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore employee.
Police spokesman Adj. Sr. Comr. Erlangga Saptono said the Singaporean, identified as Ilzam bin Odit, died after falling as he was putting mooring rope on a boat in Singaporean waters.
“On early morning of Thursday during bad weather, he fell into the ocean while he was trying to tie the rope. His fellow crew members looked for him but to no avail. It was the next day that his body was found in Karimun waters,” Erlangga told The Jakarta Post.
