A 75-meter stretch of a road connecting Bandung and Cirebon in West Java has collapsed, cutting access for larger vehicles.
The section of road in Cireki village, Sumedang district, collapsed at 8 p.m. on Monday, West Java Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Yusri Yunus said.
"The route is temporarily cut off. Only motorcycles can pass along the road," he said in Bandung on Tuesday.
Police have prepared alternative routes for vehicles planning to use the road. They are directing private vehicles from Sumedang heading to Cirebon via Kertajati while trucks and other heavy vehicles are directed to pass Cijelag and on to Subang.
Buses traveling from Bandung to Cirebon must pass through Cikamurang, Cijelag, Tomo and Kadipaten, or another route from Bandung via Subang to the Cipali toll road before reaching Cirebon. (rin)
