ublicly listed Red Planet Indonesia Hotel, a local subsidiary of Red Planet Hotel Group, plans to start construction of its new hotel in Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta, in the fourth quarter of this year with an investment value of about US$7 million.
Red Planet Indonesia president director Suwito told reporters on Friday that the company has allocated a capital expenditure of Rp 110 billion ($8.25 million), the majority of which will be used to finance the new hotel’s construction.
“The new hotel will be built on a 3,000-square meter plot of rented land. We are still in the process of obtaining a building permit (IMB),” he said, adding that the hotel will accommodate 171 rooms and was expected to finish in 2019.
“We chose Kelapa Gading as our new hotel location because we are focusing our business in Jakarta and its surroundings,” he said.
Currently, the company runs seven hotels in Bekasi, West Java; Makassar, South Sulawesi; Palembang, South Sumatra; Pasar Baru, Central Jakarta; Pekanbaru, Riau; Surakarta, Central Java and Surabaya, East Java.
Suwito said the remaining funds of this year’s capital expenditure would be allocated to renovate lobbies and corridors of the hotels in Bekasi, Palembang and Surabaya.
Red Planet Hotel Group was founded in 2010 and operates more than 25 hotels with 6,204 rooms in the Asia Pacific region, including in Indonesia, Japan, the Philippines and Thailand. (yon/bbn)
