he Jakarta Corruption Court sentenced on Wednesday businessmen Muhammad Adami Okta and Hardy Stevanus to one-and-a-half years in prison for their roles in a bribery case involving Maritime Security Board (Bakamla) officials.
Presiding judge Frangki Tambuwun said Adami and Hardy were guilty in the corruption case related to the procurement of a satellite monitoring system for Bakamla,
The two defendants are subordinates of Fahmi Dharmawansyah, the owner of PT Melati Technofo Indonesia, the company that won the Rp 222 billion (US$16.7 million) project.
The judge also slapped an Rp 100 million fine, which can be substituted with an additional six months in jail, on Adami. “The defendants have been found guilty of committing corruption together [with other parties],” said Frangki as quoted by tempo.co.
Adami’s sentence is lighter than the two-year imprisonment sought by Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) prosecutors.

Frangki said the sentence for Adami had taken into account his status as a justice collaborator.
Frangki emphasized that Adami had been proven guilty of bribing Bakamla deputy Eko Susilo Hadi, Bakamla’s director of data and information, Commodore Bambang Udoyo, Bakamla’s bureau head of planning and organization, Nofel Hasan, and Eko’s administration staffer, Tri Nanda Wicaksono.
Eko and Bambang have also been named suspects in the case. (mrc/bbs)
