he city administration has offered to help Jakarta residents revitalize their neighborhoods through "green lane" revitalization program.
Residents can file a request for their neighborhood to receive support in the program to the Jakarta Fisheries, Agriculture and Food Security Agency. The program had been listed as a priority program by the agency earlier this year.
"Residents should not necessarily present a proposal. They can just contact us and we will conduct a field survey at the proposed location," said the agency's agriculture division head, Diah Meidiantie.
However, she added, the agency will demand a commitment by the residents to sustain the project.
Under the program, the agency will revitalize lanes by providing seeds and equipment for vertical gardens, she explained.
Kicked off last year, the program has supported 150 green lanes in the capital.
This year, the agency aims to revitalize 75 more sites with an allocated budget of Rp 5 billion (US$375,686).
