he Jakarta Corruption Court (Tipikor) has sentenced senior police officer Adj. Sr. Comr. Raden Brotoseno to five years in prison and a Rp 300 million (US$22,580) fine for his involvement in a bribery case.
“We conclude that the defendant has been proven and declared guilty on a collaborative and continued graft case,” presiding judge Baslin Sinaga told the court on Wednesday.
Judges added that Brotoseno, who was also former investigator at the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), had failed the government’s efforts to eradicate corruption.
Brotoseno was found guilty of accepting Rp 2.9 billion bribes in connection to a graft case related to rice field projects in Ketapang, West Kalimantan.

Judges stated that Brotoseno, who has reportedly married former beauty queen and House of Representatives member Angelina Sondakh, had violated Article 12a of Law No. 31/1999 on Corruption Eradication. (ecn/jun)
