he Jakarta administration will take over the maintenance of Simpang Susun Semanggi, or the Semanggi Interchange, after the handover of assets from the private company that built the facility.
“When the handover is made with the private company, we will be the ones who will maintain the Semanggi interchange, specifically the Bina Marga road agency,” said city secretary Saefullah on Tuesday, as quoted by wartakota.tribunnews.com.
The interchange was constructed using compensation funds in return for a higher building-floor coefficient permit submitted by private company Mitra Panca Persada.
He added that the handover would be made on Aug. 17 during the interchange’s inauguration and it would be recorded as the city’s asset.
Saefullah, however, admitted that funding for the interchange maintenance had not been allocated in the city’s budget because usually the contractor was responsible for the maintenance for six months after the handover.
At present, the city administration is conducting a trial of the interchange from July 28 to Aug. 10. The interchange is 1.6 kilometers long with two ramps: The first connects Slipi, West Jakarta, with Blok M in South Jakarta. The second connects Cawang, East Jakarta, and the Hotel Indonesia traffic circle in Central Jakarta. (wnd)
