akarta Governor Djarot Saiful Hidayat has harshly criticized a junior high school teacher, who is alleged to have sent pictures of masturbating women to his students, and has demanded he be severely punished.

Tri Sutrisno, 25, an English teacher at a private junior high school in Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta was arrested by the police near the school compound on Aug. 10, following a report from parents that he had allegedly sent the photos along with obscene texts to at least four female ninth graders through instant messaging service Line.

“Someone like that doesn’t deserve to be a teacher,” Djarot told reporters at City Hall on Monday.

Djarot called on the school to take stern measures against the teacher, if he is found guilty, as he felt aberrant teachers damaged the reputation of educational institutions.“Strict punishment should be imposed [...] Don’t risk further harm to the educational institution, the students or the good teachers out there,” Djarot added.

Tri has been charged with violating laws on pornography and child protection as well as the Electronic Information and Transactions Law.
