In celebration of love, three leading Indonesian designers – Anne Avantie, Sebastian Gunawan and Tex Saverio – have come out with exquisite wedding ring collections.

When a couple plan their wedding, the priority tends to be on finding a great venue or choosing the perfect dresses, while hunting for the right wedding ring usually comes last on their list.

But when the wedding party is over, newlyweds only have each other and their wedding rings — a symbol of their love, devotion and vow to stay true to each other.

Three of Indonesia’s most renowned designers — Anne Avantie, Sebastian Gunawan and Tex Saverio — aim to set the priority straight with their exquisite wedding ring designs that are not only pleasing to the eye but also rich in meaning.

Anne brought in batik’s influences for her Kekaseh wedding ring collection for The Palace jewelry while Sebastian gave his Love Knots collection for Frank & Co. a classic but modern twist.

Tex played around with nature’s elements for the three designs in his Earth series, his first out of five in the Elemental collection for Miss Mondial.

For Anne, renowned for her kebaya blouse design, the newly launched collection was her second for The Palace. The first Kekaseh collection was launched in 2015.

In her latest collection, six classic Javanese batik motifs beautifully adorn the rings that perfectly blend traditional and modern elements into fine quality gold and diamond.

Each detailed motif — from Sido Mukti and Truntum to Parang Kusumo — represents a rich philosophy, which the designer offers as a prayer for the newlywed couple.

“The Kekaseh design comes with a simple silhouette but is rich in philosophy and sincere prayer that the couple will stay true to each other. The true meaning of the Kekaseh collection is a hope that during marriage, a couple will always remember to sincerely love each other,” Anne said during the launch event at the recent Jakarta Wedding Festival.

“For me, loyalty and sincere love are the foundation of every design.”

Seven wedding ring creations by Sebastian, better known as Seba, spell classic and elegant designs of white and rose gold embellished with diamonds.

At the heart of his sophisticated design was his belief that a strong relationship is based on a partnership concept in love and life, with each couple having their own unique identity that should get stronger with them being together.

In the name of love: Three renowned designers, Sebastian Gunawan (left), Anne Avantie (center) and Tex Saverio are collaborating with jewelry brands to create an exclusive line of wedding rings.

His Love Knots series represents a couple’s personality and unique love story — how each couple have their own ways of staying together and are deeply committed to each other.

The knots that bind their love together — where the couple work together in respect, admiration and appreciation for each other — inspire him in his designs.

Each of the seven designs comes with its own story. The Infinity Ring represents two personalities that respect each unique character but commit to staying together forever in marriage, while the Trinity Ring’s knot and weave design symbolizes a couple’s strong love for one another and the three diamonds on the ring represent a vow of loyalty from the past, the present and the future.

The award-winning designer also found inspiration from Japanese obi sash design for the Eternity Ring that signifies two souls harmoniously bonded together into one vow.

“We believe this collection is the right choice for couples who believe in their love and will be together forever,” Seba says.

For his wedding ring designs, Tex went for nature’s five elements — Earth, Water, Fire, Wind and Metal. Each series is to be launched every six months.

For the first, the Earth Series, the young designer, who rose to fame for dressing top celebrities like Lady Gaga, Kim Kardashian and Jennifer Lawrence, went the extra mile, from learning new techniques to working with 3-D printing, to create his pieces.

And the results show his signature style, with the rings seamlessly blending East-meets-West to create modern and dynamic pieces.

Tex said he found both creating his fashion collection and making jewelry fascinating. “I’m much more familiar with fashion design but this is new and exciting for me,” said Tex, who is currently preparing for his second solo fashion show late next year.

His rings, he said, represented couples who were strongly committed to each other, just like Earth, in a balanced and harmonious relationship.

“I believe wedding rings represent two personalities in a harmonious relationship,” Tex said. “Wedding rings are an important, sacred symbol of marriage. When the [wedding] party is over, the rings are what they have besides each other.”
