T

he city’s commuter line operator has called passengers affected by Tuesday morning’s Bogor-Muara Angke train derailment to get their rail cards “tapped out” at any station within three days to avoid penalties.

“Please come to any counter in any station to ‘clear’ the cards so that no one is disadvantaged,” said state-owned Kereta Commuter Indonesia (KCI) president director Muhammad Nurul Fadhila in Manggarai Station, Central Jakarta, on Tuesday.

Following the derailment at Manggarai, one of Jakarta's biggest transportation hubs, many passengers left the station without checking out their rail cards and changed mode of transportation, he said, which might lead them to being charged penalty fees of Rp 10,000 (74 US cents) when they tried to check in again with their card.

The three-day service applies for all kinds of rail cards; daily tickets (THB), multi trip cards (KMT) and e-money cards issued by banks, Fadhil said.

“If passengers need refunds, they also can go to any counter,” he said as quoted by kompas.com.

Fadhil added that there were no reports of any injuries in the incident and that the company would be responsible for any passenger who was injured. (wnd)
