t was a different scene than usual at the official governor’s residence in Menteng, Central Jakarta, on Saturday. Several men were seen moving boxes from inside the house, where outgoing Governor Djarot Saiful Hidayat lives with his family, placing them in trucks parked in the house’s driveway.  

As reported by kompas.com, two trucks, one of which was provided by the Jakarta Transportation Agency, will move the family’s belongings to Djarot’s home in Kemang, South Jakarta.

Djarot's tenure as governor will officially end on Saturday night. He will be replaced by governor-elect Anies Baswedan, who will be inaugurated on Monday afternoon.  

Djarot said on Friday that he had  prepared to move on Saturday and that he would not spend his last night as governor at the official residence. His wife, Happy Farida, confirmed her family would reside in Kemang after her husband’s tenure ended.

Djarot also has a home in Cibubur, East Jakarta, but has opted to reside in Kemang on account of the home’s close proximity to his children’s schools. (rdi)
