-commerce company Lazada Indonesia said it is constructing a delivery hub in Sawangan, Depok, and has been in the process of obtaining permits from the local authorities since August.
The statement was issued following reports that the company had been constructing an unlicensed facility in the area and was thus reprimanded by public order officials from Satpol PP in Depok.
“We had also informed local community organizations about the facility. This facility will be used as a delivery hub, not as a warehouse, to effectively serve our customers in this area,” said the company’s head of public relations Astrid Puspitasari.
Astrid said the company had received the letter from Satpol PP and has immediately halted construction until the permits are issued.
“Since Sept. 25, there has been no construction activity at the site,” she said.
