-commerce platform Lazada Indonesia has targeted to ship at least 1 million items during the country's National Online Shopping Day (Harbolnas) in which it holds a three-day online shopping campaign starting on Tuesday.
"The number [1 million items] excludes items that are being or will be sent directly by the sellers from their houses. So the number could be higher," said Lazada Group co-CEO Florian Holm at its warehouse in Depok, West Java, on Tuesday.
He believed the 30,000-square-meter warehouse in Depok, called Lazada Fulfillment Center, would help the platform boost its sales.

"So far, there have been 2,500 merchants who have stocked their items here,” he said, adding that the opening of warehouse would help shorten the delivery time from two to three days to only one day since the orders were made by the customers.
Florian explained that during the online shopping day, Lazada hired extra employees, increasing staff size to 3,500 – two times higher than last year.
He said Lazada also stored at least 5 million items from 18 categories for the event.
The five most popular categories among shoppers from previous Harbolnas events were fashion, tablet computers, health products, mother and baby products and home and living products.
Florian said the event, which started at 10 p.m. on Monday, had set a record for number of visitors to Lazada platform, and was three times the number on normal days. (srs/bbn)
