Coach Fakhri Husaini was overjoyed with the team's victory, which took place on Pitch 1 of the Kirishima Yamazakura Miyazaki Prefectural Comprehensive Sports Park in Japan.
“Thanks to Allah, our hard work and prayers from Indonesia’s soccer fans, we clinched the victory in the tight semifinal facing Japan,” said Fakhri Sunday as quoted by kompas.com. He praised his team for giving the Japanese team a tough time. He said the team performed solidly, both on the offensive and the defensive.
“I am proud of what they have shown us,” said Fakhri, who was a former midfielder on the Indonesian national team in the 1990s.
He said he told the team before the match not to be pressured by Japan’s big name.
