n official with the National Police’s Medical and Health Center was arrested on Thursday for allegedly trying to smuggle crystal methamphetamine for her husband, who is detained at the Jakarta Police’s detention center.
The official, identified only as UK, allegedly packed 7 grams of crystal methamphetamine into a deodorant bottle when visiting her husband.
“Her husband ordered her to deliver the meth,” Jakarta Police Narcotics Division head Sr. Comr. Suwono Nainggolan said on Friday as quoted by tempo.co.
The husband reportedly has been detained at the center for around three weeks.
“We will process this case separately. He will be charged with a different violation,” said Suwono, adding that the wife had also been detained.
UK will be charged under Article 114 on drug distribution, from the 2009 law on narcotics, which carries the death penalty.(iwa)
