A

pregnant woman was found dead in Tangerang, Banten, on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m., after allegedly being stabbed and shot in a mugging attempt on Jl. Rasuna Said in Pindang district.

Local resident and witness Lisa said the pregnant woman was on a motorcycle with her husband the moment before the incident occurred.

“She hopped off the motorbike to buy something in a shop,” she said as reported by wartakota.tribunnews.com.

Two men then approached the couple and allegedly attempted to steal the motorcycle, which led to a quarrel. The woman screamed for help, which allegedly led to one of the muggers to start kicking her and stabbing her in the belly.

“The muggers were equipped with firearms,” she added.

Another eyewitness, Rohman, said that the mugger had also shot the woman.

“Soon after the mugger shot the pregnant lady, many people flocked to the scene. But they left their firearm. They ran right away,” he said.

Tangerang Police criminal unit chief Sr. Comr. Deddy Supriyadi said that the case was under investigation. (vla)
