tate-owned telecommunications company PT Telkom saw a 20.59 percent decrease in profit to Rp 14.23 trillion (US$935.07 million) during the January-September period, from Rp 17.92 trillion recorded in the same months last year.
Revenue, however, increased 2.27 percent year-on-year (yoy) to Rp 99.20 trillion in January to September, from Rp 97 trillion, according to Telkom report released on Monday.
The decrease in profit was attributed to a Rp 17.49 trillion increase in the company’s operation and maintenance costs, the report explained, as well the cost of technology and information services, which jumped to Rp 33.43 trillion from Rp 27.11 trillion in the previous year.
As a result, Telkom’s gross profit margin reached 29.68 percent, compared to 36.69 percent recorded in the first nine months of last year.
Meanwhile, revenue from data, internet and information technology services stood at Rp 58.58 trillion, or 11.56 higher than the Rp 52.51 trillion recorded in the corresponding period of 2017.
The revenue contributed 59 percent to the company’s total revenue, according to kontan.co.id. (bbn)
