Attractions, events prepared for New Year’s Eve celebrations in Karo
Operators of several tourism sites in Karo, North Sumatra, have prepared various attractions and interesting events for New Year’s Eve celebrations in the regency.

perators of several tourism sites in Karo, North Sumatra, have prepared various attractions and events for New Year’s Eve celebrations in the regency.
Karo Tourism Agency head Mulia Barus said he was certain of merry New Year’s Eve celebrations at tourist sites across the regency because various spectacular events had been prepared by operators of the sites. The Karo administration has also prepared a New Year’s Eve celebration, which will be centered at the Mejuah-juah Monument in Berastagi, he added.
“New Year’s Eve celebrations have long become our routine agenda. Various interesting events being prepared are aimed at attracting tourists to visit Karo,” Mulia said on Sunday.
Taman Simalem Resort general manager Eddy Tanoto said among attractions prepared for the New Year’s Eve celebration included ethnic music performances that would entertain visitors non-stop starting from Monday evening through Tuesday.
Other events, such as Tongging Food Bazaar, traditional game competitions and live acoustic music performances, have been held to entertain tourists, Eddy said, adding these events have taken place for 12 days non-stop starting from Dec.22 and will end on Jan.2.
Taman Simalem Resort operational director Bernard Tay added that in the celebration to welcome the new year, visitors could also enjoy the Old & New All Night Long event, DJ Musical Dance performances and fireworks.
Bernard said the firework attractions would be held on One Tree Hill, the highest point of Taman Simalem Resort. “Not only tourists and visitors spending night at the resort, people living in its surrounding areas can also enjoy the spectacular firework attractions." (ebf)
